The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency said officers executed 11 narcotics search warrants across Montgomery and reported two arrests, drug and firearm seizures, and $14,157.93 in cash.
ALEA said the operation followed a five-month investigation. Officers carried out the searches simultaneously at locations throughout Montgomery on Oct. 27. The agency issued its account on Oct. 30, three days after the operation.
Reported seizures by weight
Adding the four drug weights ALEA reported gives 16,724 grams, or about 16.7 kilograms. Marijuana accounts for about 95% of that combined weight. This is a comparison by mass only; it does not indicate potency or street value.
| Item | Quantity reported by ALEA |
|---|---|
| Marijuana | 15,932 grams |
| Synthetic controlled substances ALEA called โSpiceโ | 243 grams |
| Cocaine and crack cocaine | 33 grams |
| MDMA | 516 grams, described as about 3,400 pills |
| Firearms | Five, including one ALEA said was confirmed stolen from Montgomery |
| AR-style upper receivers | Three, with assorted ammunition and magazines |
| Currency | $14,157.93 |
The firearms and upper receivers are separate entries in ALEAโs inventory: the agency reported five firearms, not eight. It described the listed quantities as totals for the operation and did not link particular seized items to either arrested person.
Two arrests as investigation continues
ALEA identified Rodriquez Oates, 39, and Leon Howard III, 42, both Montgomery residents, as arrested and booked into the Montgomery County Jail. The 11 warrants and two arrests are different counts: ALEA reported 11 searches and two people arrested, not one arrest for each warrant.
ALEAโs release lists its State Bureau of Investigation, the Alabama Attorney Generalโs Office, Alabama Drug Enforcement Task Force Region D and the Montgomery Police Department among the agencies involved.
ALEA said the investigation remains ongoing and that additional charges or arrests may follow. The agency did not announce a date for a further action.
