The Marion County Planning Commission is scheduled to hold a second hearing Aug. 4 on a request to operate a dustless-blasting automobile paint-removal business as a home occupation at a Salem property.
The pending land-use case, Conditional Use 26-020, concerns a 1.51-acre parcel at 7611 Jackson Hill Road SE. The property is in Marion Countyโs AR, or Acreage Residential, zone.
The hearing will continue the commissionโs review of whether the proposed automobile paint-removal operation may be allowed at the site through the requested conditional use. The request remains a proposal; the available county notice does not report a final decision or indicate whether the commission is likely to approve or deny it.
Second hearing follows July proceeding
The Planning Commission held or began its first hearing on the case July 21, 2026. The countyโs public-hearings page lists Aug. 4, 2026, as the date for the second hearing.
That scheduled hearing is the next identified step in the case. It is set to take place at the Marion County Courthouse Square Building, 555 Court Street NE, Salem.
The conditional-use review centers on a proposal to conduct dustless-blasting paint removal for automobiles as a home occupation. The available notice does not identify the applicant by name, and it does not provide proposed operating hours, projected employment, equipment details or expected traffic.
County has posted case materials
Marion County Public Works Planning Division lists several records for Conditional Use 26-020 on its public-hearings page. They include the application, site plan, zoning map, hearing notice and staff report.
The page also makes available audio from the first hearing and submitted public testimony. The existence of submitted testimony does not establish whether commenters support or oppose the proposal.
The case concerns a proposed business use at an acreage-residential parcel, rather than an operation already confirmed to be running there. The commissionโs action on the conditional-use request will determine the status of the proposal under the requested home-occupation use.
No final outcome is stated in the available county materials. The Aug. 4 hearing is the next scheduled public proceeding listed for Conditional Use 26-020.
