Pierre library’s summer reading program reaches Aug. 3 grand-prize drawing
Rawlins Municipal Library’s 2026 summer reading program reaches its grand-prize drawing Monday, Aug. 3, following the close of the children’s reading-log return period.
Children who returned a summer reading log between July 30 and Aug. 2 are entered in the drawing, according to the library’s program guide. The guide does not identify the grand prize or say how many children participated.
The drawing is the next scheduled milestone in a free summer program organized by Rawlins Municipal Library at 1000 E. Church Street in Pierre.
Reading logs led to drawing entry
The program’s final log-return window ran July 30 through Aug. 2. Returning a log, rather than merely registering for the program, was the stated basis for a child’s entry into the Aug. 3 grand-prize drawing.
The library guide does not state whether the drawing will be open to the public or livestreamed. It also does not provide a drawing time.
For families who took part, the close of the return period marks the end of the opportunity to submit a child’s reading log for the grand-prize drawing. The drawing itself is scheduled for Monday.
Free activities served several age groups
Beyond reading logs, the 2026 program included free activities designed for children as well as older youth. The listed offerings were Craft and Create for Kids, Art for Tweens and Teens, and Tech Tuesdays for tweens and teens.
That mix placed reading-related summer programming alongside crafts, art and technology activities at the municipal library. Goodie bags and Personal Pan Pizza coupons were also available while supplies lasted. The library set a limit of two goodie bags and two coupons per child, so the guide did not guarantee that every participant would receive those items.
