Montross Gas & Diesel Watch: Regular $3.989, Diesel $5.199
A Montross 7-Eleven lists regular gas at $3.989 and diesel at $5.199. Regular is near Virginia’s average, while diesel is about 8 cents lower.
A 7-Eleven station in Montross listed regular gasoline at $3.989 per gallon and diesel at $5.199 on Saturday, July 25, 2026. The prices were shown for the station at 15118 Kings Highway, and the listing said gas prices had been updated within 24 hours.
These are prices at one station, not a townwide or Westmoreland County average. Pump prices can change during the day, and other nearby stations may be higher or lower.
Regular gas is nearly even with Virginia’s average
AAA listed Virginia’s statewide regular-gas average at $3.991 per gallon on July 25. The Montross station’s regular price was therefore about 0.2 cents lower than the statewide average.
AAA’s Virginia regular-gas average was down 0.2 cents from the previous day, when it was $3.993. The average was still 8.9 cents higher than a week earlier, when it was $3.902.
For commuters and households filling passenger vehicles, the local station price was essentially in line with the Virginia benchmark. The statewide weekly comparison, however, shows that regular gas remained more expensive than it was seven days earlier.
Diesel is about 8 cents below the state average
The diesel price at the Kings Highway station was $5.199 per gallon, compared with AAA’s Virginia average of $5.279. That put the Montross station about 8 cents below the statewide diesel average.
Diesel was moving differently from regular gas. AAA’s statewide diesel average rose 2.1 cents from the previous day, increasing from $5.258 to $5.279. It was also up 15.8 cents from a week earlier, when the average was $5.121.
The difference matters most to people and businesses that use diesel equipment or travel heavily. Farmers, contractors, delivery drivers and service companies can face higher operating costs as diesel rises. Restaurants and other small businesses may also feel fuel pressure indirectly through delivery, supply and service expenses.
Compare before filling up
The Montross station’s regular price was essentially in line with Virginia’s average, while its diesel price was below the statewide benchmark. Neither figure represents every station in town, so drivers making weekend trips or routine commutes should compare nearby pumps before filling up.
