Argentina’s National Security and Foreign Affairs ministries have directed the inscription of five organizations in RePET, the country’s public register linked to terrorism and its financing. A joint resolution declared the legal criteria met and referred the registration step to the Justice Ministry.
The organizations are the Sinaloa Cartel, the National Liberation Army (ELN), La Nueva Familia Michoacana, Los Tiguerones and FARC-EP. The resolution also names Los Tiguerones factions Los Fénix and Los Igualitos, and includes FARC-EP-associated structures such as GAO-R, Estado Mayor Central and Frente 18. Signed on October 21, 2026, the resolution took effect that day and was published the next day.
The government said reserved intelligence reports identified a real or potential external security threat; the reports are not public. The resolution’s effective date is not the same as confirmation that the registry entry was completed: it directs the Justice Ministry to make the entry but sets no timetable. Nor does it itself impose asset freezes or travel bans. Under a separate process, the UIF may order an asset freeze in specified circumstances through a reasoned decision.
