Bolsonaro and Lula advance to Brazil’s Oct. 25 runoff
Flávio Bolsonaro and incumbent Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva will face each other in Brazil’s Oct. 25 presidential runoff. Neither won more than half of the valid votes in the Oct. 4 first round, leaving the presidency undecided.
Brazil’s Superior Electoral Court (TSE) reported the pairing on Oct. 5, based on a count snapshot from 12:11 a.m. local time, when 99.99% of ballot boxes had been counted. The vote totals in that snapshot were:

Bolsonaro led Lula by 2,227,651 votes in that snapshot. The figures are not a final tally. Voters are scheduled to return to the polls on Oct. 25 to choose between the two candidates.
