Thomson Reuters to Sell 51% of Global Print Business to KKR for About $500 Million
Thomson Reuters signed a definitive agreement with KKR on July 14, 2026, under which the private-equity firm will acquire a 51% stake in Thomson Reuters’ Global Print business. Thomson Reuters expects approximately $500 million in gross proceeds at closing and will retain a 49% equity interest.
The transaction will establish a joint venture for the business, which serves customers primarily in the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom. Thomson Reuters will retain the intellectual-property rights and full editorial control over its content portfolio, while the joint venture will receive an exclusive license to distribute that content in print and through ProView.
The deal requires specified regulatory approvals and customary closing conditions. Thomson Reuters expects it to close in the fourth quarter of 2026. The transaction changes ownership of the company’s print operation while providing capital and a continuing stake as Thomson Reuters focuses more heavily on software and artificial-intelligence products.
Thomson Reuters’ investor-relations calendar separately lists August 5, 2026, for the company’s second-quarter earnings release. The page does not display the actual second-quarter results or financial tables. The next transaction steps are the required approvals and other closing conditions before the anticipated late-2026 completion.
