Amityville trustees’ July 13 agenda: police appointments, drone tech, hearings
Amityville trustees’ July 13 agenda (posted July 8) asks them to appoint two officers effective July 20, approve drone-tech payments, and hold local-law hearings.
The Village of Amityville Board of Trustees meets Monday, July 13, 2026 at 7 p.m. in the third-floor courtroom at Village Hall. The meeting notice was posted July 6, 2026, and the agenda was posted July 8, 2026.
Police staffing: two officer appointments proposed for July 20
In the “Mayor’s Actions” section, the agenda asks trustees to appoint William M. Gordon as a Police Officer and Collin Mullin as a Police Officer, with both appointments effective 7/20/2026.
Public-safety tech: payments requested for alerting tools, a drone, and mobile docks
Under requests from the Police Department, the agenda also includes approval steps related to public-safety technology—specifically requests to pay for:
- Onsolve for Code Red annual renewal (listed under A0-3120-261)
- SkyDio, Inc. for a Patrol-LED DFR Drone and kit (listed under A0-3120-250)
- Sourcepass Total, LLC for mobile computer docks (listed under A0-3120-261)
Budget adjustments tied to police and fire public-safety equipment
The agenda also lists budget modification requests connected to public-safety operations, including:
- A request to decrease A0-5990, Fund Balance and increase A0-3120-116, APD Retiree Sick/Vacation Buyout (for a police retirement payout).
- A request to decrease A0-9950-700, Capital Projects and increase A0-3410-230, FD Vehicles/Vehicles Equipment—the same line item used in a Fire Department request to pay for a 2027 22’ SeaPro boat.
Public hearings on proposed local-law changes
The agenda includes public-hearing items tied to proposed amendments to village code sections:
Public hearing to be conducted at the July 13 meeting (Introductory Local Law No. 2 of 2026): To amend § 166-4 B of the Village Code regarding the term of licenses for storage trailers.
Public hearing called for Aug. 10, 2026 (Introductory Local Law No. 3 of 2026): To amend § 107-44 of the Village Code regarding the conspicuous posting of the company name and village decal on landscaping vehicles.
What the current code says (so you can follow what’s being proposed)
Storage trailers/storage containers (Code §166-4): The current code says licenses for a trailer or recreational vehicle are valid for one year from June 1 and expire on the next succeeding May 31 (unless the Board limits the term to a shorter period). Licenses for a storage container are valid for 90 days from issuance (unless the Board limits the term to a shorter period).
Landscaping vehicle decals (Code §107-44): The current code requires each applicant to display an identification decal issued by the Village Clerk on the left front fender of each vehicle and on the left rear fender of any trailer regularly used in the course of business. It also states that every vehicle and/or trailer used by the licensee must display the identification decals.
What residents should do next
If you rely on police services, the July 13 agenda is the place to see the proposed staffing effective date (July 20) and the specific technology payment requests tied to the Police Department.
If you use storage trailers/storage containers, or you manage landscaping vehicle compliance, these public hearings are the key moment to watch: the agenda lists the proposed code amendments and gives residents a clear checklist of what sections are in play.
