CPSC recall: Conair/Cuisinart metal bristle grill brushes can detach
CPSC says Conair/Cuisinart metal wire grill brushes can shed bristles that pose an ingestion hazard. Stop using, discard, and request a refund or credit.
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced a nationwide recall of Conair-branded Cuisinart metal wire bristle grill brushes. CPSC says the small metal wire bristles can detach and stick to the grill or food, creating an ingestion hazard and a risk of serious internal injuries that could require surgery.
What CPSC says can go wrong
CPSC reports that Conair is aware of at least 54 reports and reviews where small wire bristles detached from the brushes. The agency also says there were three reports of consumers who swallowed metal bristles and sought medical treatment to remove the bristles from their digestive tract or throat.
Which brushes are included
CPSC says the following model numbers are included (and can be found on the product packaging; the word “Cuisinart” is stamped on the brush handle):
- CCB-100
- CCB-4125
- CCB-5014
- CCB-6450
- CCB-8012
- CCB-4114
- CCB-W2
- CSBS-777
Where and when they were sold
CPSC says the brushes were sold at Burlington, TJ Maxx, and Ross stores, and online (including Amazon.com and Cuisinart.com), from June 2009 through March 2026.
CPSC says about 1,719,995 units were recalled.
What to do now
If you have one of the included model numbers, CPSC says you should:
- Stop using the recalled grill brush immediately
- Discard the recalled brush
- Contact Conair to request a full refund or a credit for use at Cuisinart.com (for a full refund plus 20% of the cash refund amount)
How to reach Conair: Call 888-520-1304 from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. ET, Monday through Friday, or follow the online instructions linked from the recall notice.
What to watch next
If you submit a refund or credit request, keep your model number and any information the recall notice asks for, so you can follow up if Conair needs additional details or if you don’t receive the expected remedy.
