Kenmore Prop. 1 ballot committee deadline is July 6
Kenmore voters will decide Proposition 1 in November, and residents have until 4 p.m. July 6 to apply for the pro and con committees.
Kenmore voters will decide Proposition 1 in the November 3, 2026 general election. The next deadline is sooner: residents have until 4 p.m. Monday, July 6, to apply for the pro and con committees that will write the ballot statements.
The City Council adopted Ordinance No. 26-0644 on June 15, 2026, sending the measure to the ballot. Proposition 1 is a 6-year permanent levy lid lift for climate and environmental stewardship, affordable housing, and human services. Voters still have to approve it.
Kenmore says the levy would cost 36 cents per $1,000 of assessed value, or about $30 a month for a $1 million home. The city says the funding would support climate programs, affordable housing work with ARCH, and human-services contracts for residents who need help with food, utilities, housing, transportation, health, and education.
The city says it is preparing the 2027-2028 budget and facing a structural deficit because costs are rising faster than revenues. Under state law, Kenmore says it can raise property-tax revenue by only 1% a year, not counting new construction.
For residents who want a voice in the voters’ pamphlet arguments, July 6 is the key date. The election itself is November 3.
