Albion District Library millage renewal set for Aug. 4 ballot

Albion District Library’s operating-millage renewal is on the Aug. 4, 2026 primary ballot. The proposal asks voters to authorize a levy of up to 2.4777 mills for 10 years, covering 2027 through 2036.

If approved and levied in 2027, the ballot notice estimates approximately $750,000 in first-year revenue. The money would be used for all district-library purposes authorized by law. The estimate is conditional on voter approval and the levy being imposed; it is not a confirmed revenue amount.

The proposal also includes specific revenue arrangements affecting Albion-area public services. A portion of the revenue captured within the district would be disbursed to the City of Albion’s Brownfield Redevelopment Authority as required by law. Under an agreement, 25% of revenue from the Albion Township portion of the district would be distributed to Homer Public Library.

The official vote totals and whether the measure passed were not located in the Michigan Secretary of State’s election-results information for the 2026 August primary. Until a certified result is available, the levy remains a proposal, and it is not known whether the district will receive the estimated revenue or be authorized to impose the 10-year millage.
