Allentown, PA — February 5, 2026 — A fatal fire in Jordan Heights, a deadly road rage shooting, and a new community health dashboard are today’s top stories.
Fatal Fire in Jordan Heights
Early Sunday morning, a three-alarm fire erupted in the 900 block of N. Penn Street, Allentown, resulting in the death of a 28-year-old woman and injuries to four others. The fire destroyed one home and spread to at least seven others in the Jordan Heights neighborhood. An autopsy is scheduled to determine the cause of death.
Deadly Road Rage Shooting
In the early hours of Sunday, a road rage incident near 5th and Hamilton streets escalated into a fatal shooting. A 35-year-old man was killed after confronting another driver with a metal baseball bat. The driver of the other vehicle, a Prius, shot and killed the man wielding the bat. The Prius driver has been arrested, and the investigation is ongoing.
Allentown Launches Community Health Dashboard
The City of Allentown has introduced its first interactive Community Health Needs Assessment (CHNA) dashboard. This tool aims to promote transparency and engage the community in addressing key health challenges identified through a comprehensive assessment process.
