Pink Night rallies for Thunder Ridge student

In Ammon tonight, the Thunder Ridge High School boys basketball program is turning its home game against Highland into the eighth annual “Pink Night.” The event raises money for a local student, 14-year-old Kindi Barrie, who is fighting Ewing sarcoma, a rare and aggressive bone cancer.

Freshman and junior varsity games start at 6 p.m., with the varsity tipoff at 7:30 p.m. Organizers are planning a charity auction, cash collections and sales of pink-themed treats, with all proceeds going to help the Barrie family. The first 500 fans through the door will receive a free Pink Night T‑shirt, and community members are encouraged to fill the gym in pink as a visible show of support.

Bonneville County jail deputy named MVP

Across the river in Idaho Falls, a longtime Bonneville County Jail detention deputy has been recognized as the Sheriff’s Office MVP during a recent law-enforcement awards luncheon. Deputy Reily Foster was honored for consistently volunteering for overtime, mentoring coworkers and helping launch the jail’s new emotional-support dog program.

Foster is known for running a farm on top of his full-time duties while still showing up with what colleagues describe as steady professionalism and a positive attitude. Supervisors say his work with Walter, the jail’s support dog, is improving morale for both staff and inmates and reflects the office’s focus on mental health inside the facility.

Idaho Falls selects new fire chief

The City of Idaho Falls has chosen Johan Olson as its next fire chief, pending confirmation by the City Council later this month. Olson previously spent more than a decade with the department before serving in leadership roles with fire agencies in Colorado and Washington.
