1) Trooper shot at during early-morning traffic stop
State police say a trooper was shot during a traffic stop around 3:30 a.m. Tuesday near Belle Avenue and Milford Avenue in Baltimore City. Investigators say shots were fired from inside a silver or gray Infiniti, and the driver fled east on Belle Avenue.
- The trooper was taken to a shock trauma center for treatment.
- Police are asking the public to help identify the driver and the vehicle.
2) Attorney general investigators reviewing fatal police-involved shooting
The Maryland attorney general’s Independent Investigations Division said it is investigating a fatal police-involved shooting tied to an encounter that began at a store in the 3600 block of Belair Road. The agency said officers pursued a man who ran and displayed a handgun, and two officers fired, striking him.
Investigators said a handgun was recovered and body-worn camera video exists, with release expected under established protocols.
3) Late-night shooting reported in the Northwest District
City police said a 40-year-old man was found with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound after officers responded to the 4900 block of Reisterstown Road around 10:45 p.m. Monday. Detectives are asking anyone with information to come forward.
4) CIAA tournament week keeps downtown busy
The CIAA men’s and women’s basketball tournaments are underway in Baltimore, with a packed schedule running through Saturday at the city’s downtown arena. Beyond the games, the week typically brings alumni events, fan gatherings, and increased foot traffic for nearby restaurants and small businesses.

Forecasters say colder air returns today, with a chance for rain, snow, or a mix developing later Thursday afternoon. Looking ahead, Friday is expected to be sunnier, and temperatures could rebound into the 50s before another shot of colder air early next week.
