Belle Glade seeks engineering firm as Pioneer Park pavilion project advances
Belle Glade is seeking an engineering and architecture firm as the city moves forward with public projects involving a park pavilion, rural transit service and drainage work.
The city issued RFP #09-2026 for engineering, architecture and related professional services. Proposals are due by 3 p.m. Eastern on Aug. 11, 2026.
The selection could influence how Belle Glade prepares and administers future capital projects, including the technical planning and professional oversight needed for public construction. As of Aug. 10, the city had not announced an engineering-services award or winning firm.
Park project has separate bidding timeline
A separate public notice identifies the Pioneer Park Plaza and Pavilion project, also called Orange Bowl Phase 3, at 866 SW 16th Street in Belle Glade. Bids for that work were due Aug. 13, 2026.
The notice says federal wage and procurement rules apply. That requirement can affect how contractors prepare bids and administer work on the project. The notice does not state the projectโs final construction cost or schedule.
The park project would add to the public amenities being considered in the city, while the engineering-services procurement may help support the preparation and administration of capital work. The records describe separate solicitations, so the engineering RFP does not establish that the city has awarded or completed the pavilion project.
Transit funding runs through the end of 2026
Palm Beach County records also identify a $424,238 Florida Department of Transportation rural-area transit grant for Go Glades operations. The county approved the grant earlier in 2026, and the funding is scheduled to expire Dec. 31, 2026.
The grant partially offsets Go Glades operating costs. That makes the service an important part of the broader public infrastructure picture for Belle Glade and nearby rural communities, where transportation access affects residentsโ ability to reach jobs, services and other destinations.
The same county record identifies a Belle Glade demucking project receiving an ad valorem funding allocation. The record names the allocation but does not provide an amount in the cited agenda information.
Together, the city and county actions point to several active public-investment tracks: a pending professional-services selection, a separate park-construction bid process, transit funding with a defined expiration date and drainage-related work. The next immediate deadlines are the engineering proposals at 3 p.m. Aug. 11 and the Pioneer Park bids on Aug. 13.
