Bentonville drivers see small gas, diesel dip Wednesday
Bentonville drivers got modest relief Wednesday as metro gas and diesel averages fell, though both remained sharply higher than a month earlier.
Regular gasoline and diesel prices both eased in the latest AAA check for the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers metro, offering Bentonville drivers a small one-day reprieve while costs remain well above a month ago.
As of Wednesday, July 29, 2026, the metro average for regular gasoline was $3.845 per gallon, down 4.6 cents from Tuesday. Diesel averaged $4.846 per gallon, a 3.9-cent daily decline.
Both fuels remain higher than in late June
The short-term move was modest compared with the larger increase over the past month. AAA data showed regular gasoline was 43.5 cents more expensive than one month earlier. Diesel was up 53.7 cents over the same period.
That means the latest daily decline does not yet represent a broad reversal for household transportation costs. Commuters may see limited relief at the pump, but drivers traveling longer distances or using larger vehicles are still facing a substantially higher fuel bill than they were in late June.
What Bentonville pump listings show
The AAA figures are averages for the Fayetteville-Springdale-Rogers metro, not an official Bentonville-only city average. Individual prices can differ by station, payment method, membership status and the time a listing was updated.
Local station pages from the Walmart fuel station at 1300 S. Walton Blvd. and the Samโs Club fuel center in Bentonville, along with iExitโs Bentonville diesel listings, can help drivers compare individual station prices. Those listings are station-level information, not a citywide average for Bentonville.
Why the move matters locally
For households, fuel remains a direct part of the weekly budget, particularly for workers commuting across Bentonville and the surrounding Northwest Arkansas job market. Higher diesel costs also matter to contractors, delivery operators, farmers, restaurants and service companies that rely on work trucks, vans or commercial equipment.
Businesses may not pass every fuel-cost change directly to customers, but sustained diesel prices can add pressure to delivery, maintenance, landscaping, construction and other mobile operations. Weekend travelers and families planning longer drives also have reason to compare prices before filling up.
Prices can change during the day, so a station listing may not match the price at the pump when a driver arrives. Checking more than one Bentonville location can make a difference, especially for larger fill-ups.
