Boulder-Longmont Gas Rises From Last Week as Diesel Eases Saturday

Regular gasoline and diesel moved in different directions in the latest Saturday price check for the Boulder-Longmont metro. On August 1, 2026, regular gas averaged $4.173 per gallon, while diesel averaged $5.214 per gallon.

Regular gas is nearly flat for the day

The Boulder-Longmont regular-gas average was 0.2 cents higher than Friday and 4.2 cents higher than a week earlier. AAA lists the regular-gas average at $3.675 a month earlier and $3.078 a year earlier. That puts the current metro average 49.8 cents above its month-earlier level and $1.095 above the same date last year.

The Boulder-Longmont figure is a metro average, not the price at every station in Boulder. Individual pumps can be higher or lower depending on location, brand, fuel grade and station-level pricing.

Diesel eased Friday but rose over the week

Diesel averaged $5.214 per gallon, down 0.2 cents from Friday but up 13.7 cents from a week earlier. AAA lists the diesel average at $4.291 a month earlier and $3.549 a year earlier. The current diesel average is therefore 92.3 cents above its month-earlier level and $1.665 above August 1, 2025.

That distinction matters for contractors, delivery operators, landscapers, service companies and other businesses that use diesel fleets or fuel-powered equipment. A small one-day decline does not erase the larger weekly, monthly and yearly increases.

Local averages remain above the national benchmark

Regular gasoline in the Boulder-Longmont metro was 7.2 cents above the latest national AAA average of $4.101. The U.S. Energy Information Administration provides statewide fuel-price context, but its Colorado data should not be confused with the more specific Boulder-Longmont metro snapshot.

For commuters and households, the current averages can add pressure to weekend driving budgets, errands and longer trips. Contractors, restaurants, delivery drivers and other fuel-dependent businesses may also face higher operating costs, although the available price data does not establish how any particular local business is responding.
