Assessors launching townwide property inspections
Bridgewater’s Assessors Office is sending staff into neighborhoods throughout February and March to inspect homes and businesses. The visits cover residential, commercial, industrial and personal property as part of the town’s regular work to keep valuations up to date.
Officials say inspectors will have identification, and other town departments have been notified about who is in the field and what vehicles they are driving. Residents do not need to schedule anything in advance, but are encouraged to cooperate if an inspector stops by so the town’s records stay accurate.
Water supply emergency and kiosk closure
A town notice on the municipal website says a water supply emergency has been declared for the local system as crews work on critical infrastructure. The designation is intended to support faster work on repairs and upgrades.
Residents should watch for any conservation requests or changes to outdoor water use that may be posted through official town channels. The BlueDrop bulk water kiosk also remains closed while repairs are arranged, so anyone who relies on it should plan to use other sources for now.
Stormy weekend ahead
Forecasters are tracking a winter storm moving across Massachusetts today, with several inches of snow possible and some areas of the state projected to see higher totals. Road conditions are expected to deteriorate as the day goes on, especially this afternoon and evening.
Drivers in and around Bridgewater should plan for slower travel, allow extra time on the roads and give plows and emergency vehicles plenty of room. If you have flexibility, consider running errands early and checking for any schedule changes to events, sports or church services.
What’s happening around town today
Despite the wintry forecast, there is a full slate of Saturday activities on the local calendar.
- Morning crafts for kids at The Bridge Center on Pine Street, with families invited to make Valentine cards and decorations.
- An afternoon wellness and discussion gathering at The Zen Loft on Pleasant Street.
- An evening Super Bowl themed fundraiser at the Bridgewater Veterans Club on Cottage Street.
- Live acoustic music at Barrett’s Alehouse on Bedford Street.
- College and youth hockey games at Bridgewater Ice Arena, including matchups featuring Stonehill and Bridgewater-area teams.
If you’re planning to head out, it’s a good idea to double-check event details with organizers in case the storm forces any last-minute changes.
