Cactus council agenda set tax-rate, budget and old school demolition items
The Cactus City Council was scheduled to meet at 6 p.m. on Sept. 24, 2025, at Cactus City Hall, 201 S. Highway 287, to consider the city’s proposed 2025-26 tax rate and fiscal-year budget.
The agenda included a hearing on a proposed tax rate of $0.320191 per $100 of taxable value. It also listed adoption of the proposed 2025-26 budget and consideration of an amendment to the 2024-25 budget covering the administration, fire, community center, parks and street funds.
Old school property also on agenda
Council members were also scheduled to consider awarding a bid for demolition of Cactus’ old school property. The agenda did not establish whether the council ultimately adopted the proposed tax rate or budget, or whether it awarded the demolition bid. It also did not identify a bidder, contract amount or demolition schedule.
The scheduled council session was the next known step for the tax-rate, budget and property matters. The tax and budget items concern city revenue and services, while demolition would change a prominent local site by removing an aging or obsolete structure.
