Centerville voters prepare for Aug. 6 primary and county election

Centerville-area voters have seven days to prepare for the Thursday, Aug. 6, 2026, election, which combines Tennessee Republican and Democratic primaries with the Hickman County general election.

The election will be held in Hickman County voting precincts. The county notice lists state, federal, county, judicial, school-board and constable contests, but the offices appearing on an individual ballot can vary by precinct and, in the primaries, by the party ballot selected.

What is on the ballot

The state primary includes contests for Tennessee governor, the 7th Congressional District and the 69th Tennessee House District.

The county general election includes county mayor; commission districts 1 through 7; trustee; assessor of property; sheriff; circuit court clerk; county clerk; register of deeds; road superintendent; a 32nd Judicial District circuit judge seat; school board districts 4, 5 and 6; and constables in districts 1 through 7.

Not every voter will see every listed contest. The Hickman County Election Commission advises voters to use the official voter-information and sample-ballot tools to confirm the races and questions that apply to their precinct.

What voters should do now

The voter-registration deadline for the Aug. 6 election was Tuesday, July 7. That deadline has passed, so registered voters should focus on confirming that their registration and address are current, checking their assigned polling place and reviewing their individual ballot before Election Day.

Tennessee requires voters to present an accepted photo identification when voting. Voters should review the current Tennessee Secretary of State guidance for the requirements that apply to voting in person and should resolve any questions before heading to the polls.

The county also lists election@hickmancountytn.gov as an election-office contact. Voters should verify current office hours and contact details through the county’s election information before visiting or sending a question.

With the election one week away, the most useful final step for Centerville voters is to confirm registration status, polling location and ballot information through Tennessee’s official election tools, then bring an accepted photo ID on Aug. 6.
