Overnight shooting under state investigation
State investigators are looking into a fatal police shooting at the Perkofski Boat Launch early Saturday. Officers from multiple agencies responded around 1 a.m. after reports of a person armed with a rifle near the Brown County Fairgrounds. Negotiators tried to talk with the individual, but officials say the person raised the weapon and several officers opened fire. The person died at the scene.
The Wisconsin Department of Justice is leading the review, and all involved officers are on administrative leave while body camera and other evidence are examined. Authorities have not yet released the person’s name or any additional details.
