East Orange Lists 2,000-Unit Pipeline, $100M Infrastructure Plan

East Orange is continuing a redevelopment and infrastructure program that includes more than 2,000 residential units in the city’s development pipeline and more than $100 million in proposed FY 2026 upgrades for parks, streets and water systems.

The city described redevelopment as being at an all-time high in its development update. The housing figure identifies units in the pipeline; it does not establish that the units have received final approval or entered construction.

Next step is an August council meeting

The next regular East Orange City Council meeting listed by the city is scheduled for Aug. 17, 2026, at City Hall, 44 City Hall Plaza. The meeting notice says formal action may be taken at regular council meetings.

The city has not announced which projects, contracts or appropriations may come before the council on that date. The more than $100 million figure is presented as part of the city’s FY 2026 proposal, rather than as a statement that the full amount has been finally authorized or spent.

Together, the housing pipeline and infrastructure plan point to continued city activity affecting development, neighborhood investment and municipal services. The Aug. 17 meeting is the next identified opportunity for formal action.
