FDOT intersection project will add left-turn signals on Fiske Boulevard in Rockledge
ROCKLEDGE, Fla. — A Florida Department of Transportation intersection project at Fiske Boulevard and Levitt Parkway/Lakemoor Boulevard is under construction, with new traffic signals and pedestrian facilities planned for the Rockledge intersection.
FDOT lists the project, identified as FPID 450417-1, as intersection work in Rockledge, Brevard County. The agency puts the construction cost at $3.6 million, with work beginning in spring 2026 and estimated completion in fall 2026.
Left-turn movements planned in both directions
The completed design will provide signalized left-turn access for northbound and southbound traffic on Fiske Boulevard, also designated State Road 519.
FDOT also plans new east-west crosswalks across Fiske Boulevard and pedestrian crossing signals at all four crosswalks. The project includes pedestrian ramps at the new crosswalks that meet current Americans with Disabilities Act standards.
Short sidewalk connections will be added along Lakemoor Boulevard. The work is focused on the intersection and its immediate pedestrian approaches, rather than a broader reconstruction of Fiske Boulevard.
Lane closures expected during construction
The City of Rockledge said motorists should expect intermittent single- and double-lane closures during active construction periods. Electronic message boards and other signs will direct traffic through the work zone, and drivers may encounter temporary uneven pavement as asphalt is installed in phases.
The city also said the posted 45 mph speed limit will remain in effect throughout the project limits.
FDOT’s current project record lists a single outside-lane closure on southbound Fiske Boulevard from north of Levitt Parkway to south of Lakemoor Boulevard from Monday, August 3, through Sunday, August 9, for miscellaneous construction activities.
Fall completion remains an estimate
Rockledge posted its construction notice on April 9, 2026, describing the project duration as April 2026 through fall 2026. The city cautioned that weather and other unforeseen circumstances could change the schedule.
FDOT’s project record lists the phase as construction and was last updated July 24, 2026. Fall 2026 remains an estimated completion period, not a guaranteed deadline.
Drivers and pedestrians using the intersection should watch for changing work-zone signs, temporary pavement conditions and lane restrictions as construction proceeds. The current closure information may change as work advances.
