Canyon Crest Fire Fully Contained
Firefighters have successfully contained the Canyon Crest Fire, which burned between Jurupa Valley and Fontana last week. The brush fire, which started around 5:30 p.m. Thursday near Canyon Crest Drive and Weeping Willow Lane, quickly grew to 10 acres in less than an hour, with the wind contributing to its growth. As of Sunday evening, the fire had burned 284 acres but is now 100% contained. All evacuation warnings were lifted, and a care and reception center were closed. No injuries or structural damages were reported.
Fatal Crash Closes Lanes on Eastbound 60 Freeway
Several lanes on the eastbound 60 Freeway in Jurupa Valley were closed following a fatal crash on Monday morning. The freeway was closed between Etiwanda Avenue and Country Village Road/Mission Boulevard, causing traffic to back up to the 15 Freeway. The cause of the crash is under investigation, and it is unclear when the lanes will be cleared. Drivers are advised to use alternate routes such as the eastbound 10 Freeway, eastbound 91 Freeway, or Van Buren Boulevard.
