LA 16 bridge repair closure was scheduled through Aug. 5 near Denham Springs
Louisiana’s Department of Transportation and Development scheduled a full closure of the LA 16 bridge in Denham Springs for bridge repairs, affecting a roadway 0.5 miles south of I-12 and 0.5 miles north of LA 1034. The closure was scheduled to begin at 6 a.m. July 20, 2026, and continue through 7 p.m. Aug. 5, weather permitting.
Drivers using LA 16 were directed to follow a signed detour using US 190, LA 3002 and LA 1034. DOTD also warned motorists to follow posted signs and remain alert around work crews. The closure and detour affected access between Denham Springs, I-12 and surrounding Livingston Parish communities.
Reopening status not confirmed
The official notice available for this report does not confirm whether the bridge reopened after the Aug. 5 target date. It also does not provide a revised completion date or identify any remaining restrictions. The scheduled end date therefore should not be treated as proof that the repairs were completed.
A separate July 3 report said the Burgess Road Bridge in Denham Springs had reopened after contractor equipment delayed that project. That reopening involved a different bridge and should not be confused with the LA 16 repair work.
