Lewisville Parks and Recreation Department Named Finalist for National Gold Medal Award

The City of Lewisville’s Parks and Recreation Department (PARD) has been recognized as a finalist for the 2025 National Gold Medal Awards for Excellence in Park and Recreation Management. This honor highlights the department’s commitment to community well-being, inclusiveness, and excellence in service delivery.

About the Award

The National Gold Medal Awards, presented by the American Academy for Park and Recreation Administration and the National Recreation and Park Association, honor communities that demonstrate excellence in parks and recreation through long-range planning, resource management, volunteerism, environmental stewardship, program development, professional development, and agency recognition.

Lewisville’s Achievements

Lewisville is one of four Texas cities to be named a finalist in the Class III category, which represents cities with populations between 75,001 and 150,000. The department’s efforts have led to 84% of Lewisville residents living within a 10-minute walk to a park, surpassing the U.S. average of 55%.

Looking Ahead

The presentation of the Finalist and Grand Plaques in each population class will occur at the 2025 NRPA Annual Conference, scheduled for September 16-18 in Orlando, Florida. This recognition underscores the city’s dedication to providing quality parks and recreational facilities for its residents.
