Family craft day brightens a winter Saturday

Families looking for an indoor break from the cold have a free option downtown today. The Lockport Public Library is hosting a drop-in Winter Color & Cut Craft program from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., open to kids and caregivers of all ages. Staff members have set up simple projects that younger children can complete on their own, with supplies provided while they last. The library notes that regular story time and craft sessions continue next week, including a family story time on Monday evening and a hugs-and-kisses themed program for preschoolers on Tuesday morning.

Niagara County plans for America’s 250th

County officials are also looking ahead to 2026 commemorations of America’s 250th birthday, and a Lockport design studio is playing a key role. A new logo chosen for countywide semiquincentennial events was created by Edgepath, a firm based in the city. The design ties the national anniversary to local landmarks and will help brand celebrations across Niagara County. A planning committee with representatives from history groups, tourism, schools, and local government is asking communities, including Lockport, to start thinking about parades, exhibits, and other ways to mark the milestone.
