Love’s Travel Stop No. 626 in Dumas is scheduled for an estimated $3 million renovation, according to a Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation project record.

The project is listed at 720 N. Dumas Ave. with an estimated start date of Aug. 3, 2026, and an estimated completion date of Dec. 1, 2026. The filing describes a privately funded renovation of the existing travel center intended to update its food-service offering.

What the state filing shows

TDLR lists the project under number TABS2026018496. The record identifies the facility as Love’s Travel Stop No. 626 in Moore County, classifies the work as a renovation or alteration, and gives the project an estimated size of 2,630 square feet.

The filing lists an estimated cost of $3 million and says the project is privately funded on private land for private use. Its current status is “Review Complete.” The listed construction window runs from Aug. 3, 2026, through Dec. 1, 2026.

TDLR’s stated scope is a remodel of the existing travel center to update the food-service offering. The dates and cost are estimates, and the filing does not establish that construction will be completed on schedule or that every planned improvement will be active during the entire window.

Love’s describes broader improvements

FOX 4 Dallas-Fort Worth reported May 1 that Love’s identified Dumas and Dalhart as two Texas Panhandle locations receiving $3 million upgrades. The company told FOX 4 that the work would include expanding and modernizing sales-floor and coffee areas, updating or expanding restrooms and showers, adding fresh-food sections and new vestibules, and installing quick-service restaurants.

Those amenity details were attributed to Love’s by FOX 4 and are separate from the narrower food-service description in the TDLR filing.

What Dumas customers should watch

Love’s official location page lists the Dumas store as open 24 hours and confirms the address and store number. The reviewed records do not announce a closure, reduced hours, road closure, traffic-control plan or confirmed service interruption during construction.

Customers, truck drivers and local workers may want to monitor Love’s notices for changes to access, food service, showers, restrooms or other amenities as work proceeds. No local hiring commitment, job total or additional tax revenue has been documented in the records reviewed for this report.

No identified public incentive

The July 13, 2026, agenda for the Dumas Economic Development Corporation included an update on projects and prospects, budget action, consideration of a separate project identified as “19th Hole,” and an executive-session category for economic-development negotiations. The agenda reviewed did not identify Love’s by name.

Based on the available documents, there is no verified evidence that the Dumas EDC approved or funded the remodel, or that the project received a local public incentive.

For now, the confirmed development is a private renovation planned at the North Dumas Avenue travel center. The state filing estimates completion on Dec. 1, 2026, while construction logistics and any effect on store operations remain unconfirmed.
