Mackayla Paige, 29, was fatally shot in Oakland early Sunday, Oct. 11, and an adult woman from Richmond was arrested in connection with the shooting, according to reports citing Oakland police.
Officers responded shortly after 1:30 a.m. to the 200 block of 14th Street, where they found Paige with a gunshot wound. Police said she was taken to a hospital and later died. KTVU reported that Paigeโs family identified her; the San Francisco Chronicle attributed her name and age to police. The block is in downtown Oakland.
Police have not publicly identified the arrested woman or described what led to the shooting, KTVU reported. An arrest is not a finding of guilt.
The Oakland Police Departmentโs Homicide Section is investigating. KTVU reported that police are asking people with information, photos or video to contact the department.
