Madison Station Elementary remains at the center of local attention after a second bomb threat in as many days forced another closure and pushed classes into a long weekend pause.

Second threat shuts down campus again

Early Thursday, a new threat was called in to the school before students entered the building. Buses that had already arrived were diverted to another location, and families were told not to bring children onto campus while police and first responders checked the area.

District officials said the school would stay closed for the day out of caution while local officers, state homeland security personnel, and federal investigators worked together on the case. No injuries were reported, but the disruption added fresh stress for students, staff, and parents who had already gone through an evacuation the previous morning.

Classes canceled through Friday

Later Thursday, Madison County Schools leaders announced that Madison Station would also close on Friday, extending the shutdown to a third school day. The superintendent said the decision was made to give law enforcement time to investigate and to make sure staff have what they need to welcome students back safely.

Officials emphasized that normal operations are expected to resume on Monday, February 9, with the same routines and security measures families are used to. They thanked parents for their patience and framed the closures as an example of putting safety ahead of convenience.

Families and staff leaning on each other

Parents and caregivers spent much of the week juggling last minute schedule changes and long pickup lines after students were rerouted during the first threat. Counselors and teachers are encouraging families to talk with children about what happened, answer questions honestly, and watch for signs of anxiety as the community processes two tense days.
