Marina Vista Park reopens after full makeover

Marina Vista Park has fully reopened after a top-to-bottom renovation, giving families another fresh green space just off the bayfront. The revamped park is being promoted as a place for both quiet relaxation and active play, with updated landscaping, gathering areas, and new amenities aimed at all ages.

City staff say the goal was to create a more welcoming, flexible space that can host everything from casual picnics to community events. Native garden workshop and busy February calendar

This morning’s Sustainable Millbrae event, “California Native Garden Design,” brought residents to the Millbrae Recreation Center to learn how drought-tolerant plants can support local wildlife and cut water use at home. The workshop runs from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m. and is part of a broader push to help neighbors rethink their yards for a changing climate.

Looking ahead, City Hall’s February calendar is packed. A regular City Council meeting is set for Tuesday, February 10 at 7:00 p.m., with another session later in the month. The Recreation Center will also host a family movie night featuring “Lilo & Stitch (2025)” on February 13, and seniors, business owners, and arts advocates all have commission and committee meetings scheduled throughout the month.

Evening BART riders should expect delays

Transit riders using the Millbrae station are being reminded to plan extra time for late-night trips toward San Francisco International Airport and San Bruno. Trackside construction to modernize the train control system is creating recurring evening delays, especially Sunday through Thursday nights, and some short periods with no direct train between Millbrae and SFO.

The work, which is scheduled to continue into the summer of 2026, is meant to eventually allow trains to run closer together and boost capacity systemwide. For now, riders may see trips taking longer than usual after 9 p.m., along with occasional changes to shuttle patterns and transfer points. Officials recommend checking the latest trip planner updates before heading out, particularly if you are catching a late flight.

Planning updates

On the planning front, several recent Planning Commission meetings have been marked as canceled, while a special session in late January handled pending land-use items. Residents tracking development near their homes may want to keep an eye on the city’s agenda center for rescheduled hearings later this winter.
