It’s a busy winter Sunday in Mokena, with village business on deck for Monday night, big sales wrapping up today and Valentine’s events gearing up for the week ahead.

Village board meets Monday night

The Village Board of Trustees is scheduled to meet Monday, February 9 at 7 p.m. at Village Hall on Carpenter Street. The regular meeting is expected to cover routine village business, and residents can attend in person or follow along through usual village channels.

Alongside the meeting, the village is accepting bids for a Well No. 3 pump installation project, with bids due by late morning on Friday, February 13. The work is part of ongoing efforts to maintain and improve the community’s water system infrastructure and keep service reliable for households and businesses.

Final day for Mokena warehouse estate sale

Today is the final day of a three day Mokena warehouse estate sale running Friday through Sunday. The sale features discounted furniture, Southwestern and Mexican décor, artwork, jewelry and other household items, with many pieces marked down as much as half off as the weekend winds down.

The sale operates from late morning into the afternoon and is drawing shoppers from around the region. Residents planning to stop by may want to allow extra time for parking and crowds, especially during the midday hours.

Valentine’s week on stage and around town

Downtown, Curtain Call Theatre is getting ready to open “Love Letters” for a Valentine’s week run beginning Wednesday, February 11. The production brings a small cast of local performers to an intimate play about a lifelong relationship told through letters, with shows scheduled on multiple evenings and a weekend matinee.

Elsewhere in town, the park district is looking a bit further ahead with a preschool open house and fall 2026 registration event set for the evening of Wednesday, February 25. Lunch Bunch and Bingo for older adults is also on the February calendar, giving residents of all ages something to look forward to as winter continues.

The village calendar for the coming weeks also includes additional board meetings, a Planning Commission and Zoning Board of Appeals session, recycle days and a school district blood drive, all scattered through the second half of February. It’s a good time to double check dates and times if you plan to attend or participate.
