Morgan Hill road work, Hale Avenue closure and flood project continue into fall

Morgan Hill’s overlapping road and flood-protection projects will continue changing travel and access through the end of summer and into October. O’Grady Paving Inc. began road-maintenance operations July 20, 2026, and the city says the work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. through October.

Residents, commuters and local businesses should expect construction activity, traffic disruption and access changes near the work areas. The city’s July 2026 community update does not provide a complete list of streets affected by the road-maintenance work, so the available information does not establish that all Morgan Hill roads are under construction.

Hale Avenue remains closed

A separate access change is continuing on Hale Avenue. The road is closed from Main Avenue to Llagas Road, and the closure is scheduled to remain in place through October 2026.

That timeline puts the Hale Avenue closure alongside the road-maintenance schedule for much of the summer and fall. The approved city information does not include detailed detour directions, and it does not include a separate August 2026 traffic bulletin with detour details.

Flood-protection work continues through August

Phase 2B of a regional flood-protection project is scheduled to continue through the end of August 2026. The City of Morgan Hill describes Phase 2B as the final portion of the regional project.

The city says the project is intended to protect residents from severe flooding and remove hundreds of properties from the flood zone. The update does not give a precise number of properties expected to leave the flood zone. “Hundreds” is the city’s description, not a project-specific count reported in the approved material.

The schedule also does not mean that flood risk has already been eliminated. It identifies the purpose of the work and the expected end of the current Phase 2B construction period.
