Mountain View Advances 2026 Affordable-Housing Construction Pipeline
Mountain View is advancing several city-backed affordable-housing projects toward expected construction in 2026, including developments in Downtown, at 1020 Terra Bella Avenue and at 87 East Evelyn Avenue.
The city describes the effort as a record affordable-housing development program for the year. The projects would add substantial deed-restricted housing in one of the Bay Area’s most expensive communities while committing public money and, for at least one project, public land.
The construction dates remain expected timelines rather than confirmation that work has begun. The city’s housing update says both the Downtown project and La Bella are expected to begin construction in August 2026. The approved materials do not establish that all of the projects had physically started by Aug. 8, 2026.
Downtown project includes city land and funding
The Downtown development is planned as a five-story, transit-oriented project. Mountain View has committed $8 million and is contributing land to the project.
The city’s approved materials do not provide a unit count for the Downtown development. That means the total number of homes represented by the broader pipeline cannot be calculated from the packet alone.
