Mukilteo Daily Brief: Ferry Drill, Kids’ Concert, Transit Board Moves
Mukilteo, WA — February 7, 2026 — WSP runs ferry dock training, kids’ space concert nears, and Mukilteo’s mayor helps steer a major transit land deal.
Mukilteo Daily Brief
Here is a quick look at what’s happening around Mukilteo for Saturday, February 7, 2026, from safety activity on the waterfront to family arts and regional transit news.
WSP training at the ferry dock
If you see an unusually heavy Washington State Patrol presence near the Mukilteo ferry terminal, it is part of a planned training exercise, not an emergency. Troopers are using the final day of construction work on a wing wall at the dock for a large, live-scenario drill focused on ferry and terminal security.
The exercise is designed to help troopers and other personnel become familiar with the layout of the terminal and vessels before they have to respond to any real incident. Residents should expect more police vehicles and activity than normal in the area, along with possible brief traffic or access disruptions near the dock while scenarios are underway.
Free space-themed kids’ concert coming to Rosehill
The Mukilteo Community Orchestra is inviting families to a free “Ad Astra” children’s concert at Rosehill Community Center on Saturday, February 28, at 10 a.m. The program features well-known space music, including themes from popular films and classical pieces inspired by the night sky.
Organizers describe the event as a hands-on experience as much as a concert. Kids are encouraged to come in costume for a playful “space walk,” submit artwork for an art contest ahead of the show, and visit an instrument “petting zoo” afterward to try out orchestral instruments with guidance from musicians.
Mukilteo mayor tapped to lead transit board
Earlier this week, the Community Transit Board approved the purchase of a large Goodwill property on West Casino Road in south Everett, a move aimed at long-term expansion of transit facilities. Mukilteo Mayor Joe Marine, who now serves as chair of the board, made the motion to move the purchase forward.
The property includes a sizable warehouse and surrounding land next to Community Transit’s existing operations center. Transit leaders say the acquisition will support future projects and technology upgrades, including new mobile communications equipment on buses and at stations. With a Mukilteo mayor in the chair’s seat, the city’s commuters will have a direct voice in how this regional transit investment is shaped over the coming years.
