Warming Centers Open Amid Extreme Cold

As freezing temperatures continue to sweep across central Indiana, Muncie residents are urged to seek shelter at local warming centers. The Young Women’s Christian Association (YWCA) is welcoming individuals without a heat source, with no temperature restrictions. Other locations, including the Center Township Trustee Office and The Muncie HUB, are also offering heated spaces. Residents are encouraged to utilize these facilities to stay safe during the extreme cold warning.

“Women of Whitely” Event Honors Black Women’s Legacy

The Notable Women of Muncie and Delaware County Project is hosting “Women of Whitely: At the Heart of Muncie’s Black History” on February 26 at the Shaffer Chapel Museum. This free public program celebrates the leadership, resilience, and creativity of Black women who shaped Muncie’s historic Whitely neighborhood. The event is part of Bracken Library’s 50th anniversary celebration and Muncie Public Library’s America 250 initiative, highlighting the power of shared storytelling and community partnership.

Ball Brothers Foundation Celebrates 100 Years

The Ball Brothers Foundation marks its 100th anniversary this year, reflecting on a century of grantmaking in Muncie, Delaware County, and East Central Indiana. The foundation remains committed to improving the quality of life in the community, honoring its shared history, and celebrating together through special events and moments throughout the year.
