North Beach’s water saddle work causes scheduled shutoff on June 17
North Beach MD – North Beach schedules a daytime water shutoff June 17 (9 a.m.–2 p.m.) on parts of 3rd St. and Frederick Ave. for saddle installs.
The Town of North Beach says it will temporarily shut off water during the day so crews can keep installing new water “saddles” as part of a phased upgrade meant to improve reliability.
In its latest Work Around Town update posted June 16, the town said water will be temporarily shut off Wednesday, June 17, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
The affected areas are:
- 3rd St. from Greenwood to Erie Ave.
- Frederick Ave. between 2nd St. and 3rd St.
Why North Beach is shutting water off during the day
The town ties the daytime shutoffs to the installation of new water saddles. North Beach frames this as proactive work designed to reduce the risk of main breaks and unplanned water-service disruptions.
The town also describes the effort as an ongoing, phased project to replace original service saddles, with residents notified when work is scheduled in their area.
What to do before crews arrive
If you live or work on the listed blocks, plan for a short service interruption during the 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. window.
For future shutdown dates in other areas, check the town’s Work Around Town stream (Infrastructure: Public Water Service Saddle Replacement). The town updates the page as phases progress.
Part of North Beach’s FY 2027 capital plan
North Beach’s adopted FY 2027 budget materials include a Capital Improvement Plan item for “Water Service Saddles,” reinforcing that this is planned infrastructure work—not a one-off outage.
And in its FY 2027 budget announcement, the town says the Water Fund and Sewer Fund remain self-sustaining through user fees and that no increases to water or sewer rates were adopted for FY 2027.
