North Ogden Daily Brief – February 7, 2026
Good evening, North Ogden. Here is a quick look at developments close to home as the weekend gets underway.
Housing proposal aims to help young adults leaving foster care
Residents in North Ogden are watching plans in nearby Ogden, where housing officials are considering a 25-unit apartment building for young adults leaving the foster care system, on a half-acre site beside an existing supportive housing complex.
The project, still early in design, would be run by the local housing authority and offer smaller, more affordable units with on-site support services, aimed at reducing the risk of homelessness as people age out of care. For North Ogden families and caseworkers, it could become an important option just a short drive south in a county already facing tight rental vacancy.
First Friday Art Stroll brings weekend energy to downtown Ogden
Downtown Ogden hosted its February First Friday Art Stroll on Friday night, with galleries, shops and arts spaces open late from 6 to 9 p.m., including stops like The Local Artisan Collective and The Mercantile, which highlighted student work and nature-themed exhibits.
The stroll remains a popular, low-cost outing for many North Ogden residents: park once, walk historic streets, hear live music and support local artists. If you missed this month’s event, organizers plan to continue the series on the first Friday of each month.
Planning Commission reviews towers and food-business rules
Back in North Ogden, the Planning Commission met Wednesday evening at City Hall, swearing in new commissioners Phil Swanson and Cass Settlemyre and organizing its leadership for the year.
The agenda included a site-plan review for a new Verizon wireless tower near 2700 North Mountain Road and a public hearing on amendments to city code to clarify how commercial food establishments may operate inside public buildings, along with time for public comment and staff reports.
Formal minutes from the meeting were not yet posted by Saturday evening, but the items highlight continuing attention to connectivity, small-business rules and growth on the northern edge of Weber County.
