North Utica plans door-to-door crews July 20-24 to identify lead lines
North Utica IL says door-to-door crews will identify water service-line material July 20–24. If visited, residents will use a QR link to submit results.
North Utica residents should be ready for a door-to-door outreach next week: the Village of North Utica says visiting teams will identify the material of residents’ water service lines as part of lead-related drinking-water work.
The village’s notice says the outreach window is July 20–24, 2026. If a team knocks at your home or building, residents are directed to use a QR-code/link to identify their service line and submit the requested information.
What the door-to-door outreach is for
North Utica says the work is connected to the EPA’s “Get the Lead Out” (GLO) initiative. In the village’s notice, North Utica describes the effort as helping with service-line identification and the village’s plan for replacement of lead service lines in the community.
So, the purpose of the door-to-door activity is identifying service-line material—while the broader lead program work includes future replacement planning.
When crews are expected to be on the street
According to the village’s notice, teams will be in neighborhoods during:
- July 20–24, 2026
Who will be visiting and what residents should do
The notice says the outreach includes North Utica staff accompaniment along with GLO technical assistance. It also says the visiting team will wear fluorescent utility vests and blue GLO badges with their names.
If you’re contacted, the village says you should:
- Scan the QR code provided with the materials
- Follow the on-screen instructions to view guidance and submit your service-line identification results
Lead background: why the village is collecting this information
In its lead-related quarterly notice dated June 19, 2026, the Village of North Utica said elevated levels of lead were found in drinking water in some homes and buildings during lead/copper testing. The notice directs residents to take steps to reduce exposure and arrange testing if they’re concerned.
What residents can do before crews arrive
If you want to be prepared for a visit, the village’s guidance points to practical steps:
- Be ready to use your phone to scan the QR code
- Plan to follow the link instructions so your service-line information is submitted correctly
If you want water testing, the quarterly notice says to contact:
- 815-481-9024 (Village of North Utica)
- Test, Inc. at 815-224-1650
Bottom line
North Utica’s door-to-door outreach next week (July 20–24) is about identifying water service-line material to support the village’s broader lead-service-line work. If someone knocks, follow the village’s QR-code instructions so the village can build the information it needs for lead-related next steps.
