Northbrook Daily Brief — Village actions, police reports, and what’s ahead
Northbrook, IL — February 7, 2026 — Village leaders set an early meeting time, police released the latest weekly report, and residents saw reminders about new building codes.
Village Board sets early meeting and reviews key issues
Northbrook trustees wrapped up their most recent actions with several items that will shape the weeks ahead. The next regular Village Board meeting is expected to begin early, at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, February 10, to allow time for discussion on sign and display rules at the Shermer-Walters Public Forum.
At the late January meeting, trustees also approved an incentive agreement tied to keeping the Crate and Barrel corporate headquarters in town, renewed public safety training partnerships, and moved forward with utility and annexation matters. Environmental cleanup steps near Stanley Street were also part of the agenda.
Weekly police bulletin released
The Northbrook Police Department posted its newest weekly bulletin covering the period ending February 6. The report outlines recent incidents and arrests as documented by responding officers. As always, police remind residents that these summaries reflect preliminary information and that investigations may continue.
Residents with information related to any listed incidents are encouraged to contact the department directly. The weekly bulletins are updated consistently and offer a snapshot of local public safety activity.
New building codes now in effect
Homeowners, contractors, and property managers are being reminded that updated building codes are now in force across the village. The changes, approved by the Village Board in late October, took effect January 1, 2026.
The updated standards incorporate the latest international residential, building, fire, and energy conservation codes, along with local amendments. Village staff recommend checking requirements carefully before starting new projects or renovations.
Looking ahead
With public hearings and commission meetings scheduled throughout February, residents can expect continued discussion around zoning, development proposals, and community use of public spaces. Agendas are typically posted several days in advance.
