Hermosillo Park Renovation Breaks Ground
On December 6, 2025, the City of Norwalk commenced the Hermosillo Park Rehabilitation, Stormwater Capture, and Infiltration Project. This $51.4 million initiative aims to upgrade one of the city’s busiest parks and introduce a modern stormwater system to enhance water quality and sustainability. The project is funded through various sources, including Measure W and Proposition 68, ensuring no impact on the city’s General Fund. Major Drug and Gun Arrest in Norwalk
In July 2025, authorities arrested 56-year-old Mario Hernandez, an alleged gang member, in Norwalk. A search of his residence uncovered multiple firearms, including rifles and pistols, along with a significant amount of ammunition and methamphetamine. Hernandez faced charges related to drug and firearm possession. The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department emphasized the importance of removing illegal firearms from communities to reduce violence and safeguard families.
