Oakdale Daily: Projects and Winter Events for February 7, 2026
Oakdale, MN — February 7, 2026 — City projects advance while residents get a full slate of winter events, from the indoor market to snow sculpture fun.
Oakdale Daily Brief: February 7, 2026
Oakdale heads into the weekend with major city projects moving ahead and a busy slate of winter activities for residents of all ages.
Public Works Facility Nears March Move-In
The city reports that the new Public Works facility is in its final stages, with a move-in now expected in March 2026 and a grand opening planned for late spring.
Office areas are being finished with sheetrock and paint, and tile work is wrapping up in the locker room bathrooms. Those spaces are slated to be the first fully completed portions of the building.
In the fleet storage area, lighting and heating systems are being installed so city vehicles can be stored and serviced indoors. Site work such as the salt storage shed, fuel island, fencing, and the first layer of pavement is largely complete, with landscaping scheduled for spring as weather allows.
Police and City Hall Remodel on the Clock
Plans to expand the police station and remodel City Hall continue to move on a set schedule. After a Planning Commission review on January 8 and City Council approval to bid on January 13, the project is heading into a bidding phase that runs through April 2026.
The current timeline calls for the council to approve construction bids in May, with work beginning in June 2026 and continuing into early 2028. The project is intended to relieve crowding in the decades-old building and support a police department that has seen steady growth in calls for service.
Indoor Market and Winter Events Today
At the Discovery Center, the city’s Indoor Market is set for today from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., offering a warm, local option for winter shopping.
Residents can also keep an eye on the city’s snow sculpture contest, which runs through the end of March, and family-friendly activities like Sundae Bingo scheduled for Sunday afternoon at the Discovery Center.
Looking ahead to early next week, the Environmental Management Commission is slated to meet Monday evening at City Hall, giving residents another chance to follow local environmental and sustainability discussions.
