Ossining’s $21 Million Transportation Hub Enters 2026 Downtown Buildout

New York State announced the groundbreaking of a $21 million mixed-use, multimodal transportation hub in Ossining on February 19, 2026, marking a major step in the village’s ongoing downtown buildout.

The project is a key component of Ossining’s Downtown Revitalization Initiative, or DRI, and is intended to improve transportation access while supporting mixed-use development and activity around the waterfront and public spaces.

State agencies supporting the project

The New York Department of State identified Ossining as the project location and described the hub as a DRI-supported development. The state agencies involved include the Department of State, Homes and Community Renewal, Empire State Development and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority.

The state announcement establishes the project’s $21 million value, but does not detail how that amount is divided among the transportation hub’s individual components.

Ossining’s DRI program also includes waterfront and community-stage improvements. Together, those efforts are intended to shape how residents, commuters, businesses and other public-space users reach and use the downtown and waterfront areas.

Other downtown projects in 2026

The transportation hub is part of broader development activity identified in village materials for 2026. Ossining’s adopted 2026 budget references the Spring on Main mixed-use development as part of the village’s downtown activity.

The budget materials also identify a separate $2.5 million full-building modernization project expected to break ground in 2026 through DRI funding. That modernization project is distinct from the transportation hub and should not be added to the hub’s $21 million value.

The separate modernization work could add another active construction project to the village’s DRI-related downtown program during the year. The materials identify the expected groundbreaking, but do not establish that the work has been completed.

Planning continues at 34 State Street

Village planning activity also continued around a proposed multifamily development at 34 State Street. A June 24, 2026, work-session agenda included a presentation concerning the proposal.

The agenda documents the proposal’s place in continuing village planning activity. It does not establish that the 34 State Street development received final approval.

What comes next

The February groundbreaking is a documented construction milestone, but the project’s current construction percentage and completion date have not been announced by the state Department of State.

That leaves the hub as an active 2026 buildout rather than a completed or operating facility. Its practical effect for commuters, residents and businesses will depend on how the transportation, mixed-use, waterfront and public-space elements advance.
