Ostrander begins comprehensive land-use planning process

Ostrander has begun a comprehensive land-use planning process with assistance from the Delaware County Regional Planning Commission, giving village officials a framework for considering future zoning, housing, commercial development and infrastructure decisions.

The work is a planning effort, not an adopted land-use policy or final map. The commission’s public project page does not provide a completion date, so residents should not treat the process as a final change to current zoning.

A Delaware County FY2026 action-plan working draft identifies Ostrander in connection with roadway, bridge and drainage improvements through the Delaware County Engineer’s Office. That reference places the village in county-level planning context; it does not establish that a specific project has been funded or scheduled. Earlier county planning records, in a June 18, 2025, Sunbury City Council agenda summary, describe a rezoning request in Ostrander for a proposed self-storage facility. The request is a proposal, not evidence that the facility will be built. The next known step is continued work by the village and planning commission on the comprehensive plan. Its eventual recommendations could inform future land-use and infrastructure decisions in Ostrander as the process develops.
