City compost facility to close for staff training

The city’s compost facility on North 8th Street will be closed to the public from Tuesday, February 11, through Thursday, February 13, for staff training. Residents who normally drop off brush, leaves, and other yard waste there will need to plan ahead and adjust drop-off schedules. The facility’s regular weekday hours and fee structure are expected to resume once training is complete.

Southside housing workshops start today

Technical assistance workshops for the Southside Housing Incentive Program begin today, offering one-on-one help for homeowners and developers working on applications. The first session is scheduled late this morning at the McCracken County Public Library, with another workshop planned for early next week. Staff from the planning department will walk attendees through both paper forms and the online portal, explaining how reimbursements and developer gap financing work in the phase-one Southside area.

Busy Saturday of local events

Paducah’s calendar is packed today with family activities, live music, and community gatherings. Downtown shops are leaning into a “Lovin’ Local” theme, while coffeehouses and galleries are hosting hands-on arts and crafts sessions. Evening options range from a live album release party at a local brewery to motorsports fans gathering at the dragway for a bracket racing class and practice event. Families can also find kid-friendly programs, including building time for young Lego fans and history-focused activities at a neighborhood museum.

Mustangs keep rolling on the hardwood

On the sports side, McCracken County’s boys basketball team continued its strong season with another decisive win on Thursday night. Christian County, which came in looking to snap its own skid, was held in check for most of the game as McCracken pulled away.
