Parma City Council is scheduled to meet Monday, August 3, as a pending police levy renewal faces an August 5 deadline for certification to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections.
The committee and regular council meetings are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m. in Parma Council Chambers. Resolution No. 68-26 is not listed as a separate August 3 agenda item in the council calendar reviewed for this report. What the proposed levy would do
Resolution No. 68-26 proposes a five-year renewal levy of 2.00 mills for police operations. The resolution identifies police personnel salaries, vehicles, communications and other equipment as uses for the proceeds.
The resolution says the levy would generate an estimated $2,791,656 annually if Parma’s taxable value remains constant. It also lists an estimated taxpayer cost of $33 for each $100,000 of county auditor market value.
The measure is described as a renewal, not a new tax. If voters approve it, the levy would begin with the 2027 tax list, with taxes first due in calendar year 2028.

The proposed election date in Resolution No. 68-26 is November 3, 2026. The resolution directs the council clerk to certify the necessary documents to the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections no later than August 5, 2026.
