Pasadena Extends Preston Park Phase 1 Bid Deadline to Aug. 3

Pasadena has moved the proposal deadline for Phase 1 of Preston Park to Aug. 3, 2026, giving contractors and vendors additional time to respond to the city’s request. The new deadline replaces the original July 27 date.

The procurement is identified as RFP 26-020, Preston Park Development – Phase 1. The planned park site is near Crenshaw Road, Beltway 8 and Preston Road. The city has not confirmed a contractor selection, so the project remains in the planning and procurement stage.

What Phase 1 would include

The request for proposals sets a construction budget cap of $2.1 million. That figure is a limit in the procurement documents, not a final project cost or an awarded contract amount.

Proposed work covers demolition, grading and drainage, concrete trails, landscaping, irrigation, lighting, electrical work, site furniture and fountains. The RFP also includes federal and state grant-related requirements that respondents would need to address if the city awards the work.

The city’s resident-facing Preston Park project page describes the broader site as approximately 37 acres. The RFP, however, refers to a development area of roughly 32 acres. Those figures describe different parts of the project documentation and should not be treated as the same measurement.

City materials list possible Phase 1 amenities including a parking lot, entrance gate, concrete trail, plantings, pond aerators and benches. Lighting, electrical improvements and fountains also appear in the procurement materials. The documents do not guarantee that every listed amenity will be completed in this phase.

Construction dates remain estimates

The RFP estimates construction could begin Oct. 1, 2026, and finish Aug. 1, 2027. Those dates depend on the bidding process, city review and a final contract award. They are not confirmation that construction will start on Oct. 1.

The city’s fiscal year 2026 adopted budget identifies Preston Park construction as a Parks and Recreation priority tied to Texas Parks and Wildlife Department requirements. The budget and procurement documents still leave the project subject to the city’s contracting process.

The city may reject proposals or negotiate with respondents before awarding the work. Addenda issued before the revised deadline clarified parts of the proposal requirements, including electrical and fountain-related items.

What residents should watch next

The next major updates will be whether the city receives proposals by Aug. 3, how the submissions are evaluated and whether a construction contract is awarded. Any award could also establish a more definite schedule, price and scope for the first phase.

For residents, the immediate takeaway is that Preston Park has not reached the construction stage. If the city awards the project on the estimated schedule, site work could begin in fall 2026 and continue into summer 2027. Until then, the $2.1 million figure, proposed amenities and construction dates remain tied to the city’s procurement documents rather than a completed contract.
