Pascagoula Daily: Little Rascals Parade, Clear Skies, and Student Spotlights
Pascagoula, MS — February 7, 2026 — Kids roll for Mardi Gras downtown, clear cool weather holds, and local students spotlight culture and achievement.
Good morning, Pascagoula. Here’s a quick look at what’s happening around town on this cool, sunny Saturday along the river.
Little Rascals parade brings Mardi Gras fun downtown
The Krewe of Little Rascals children’s Mardi Gras parade is the big event today in downtown Pascagoula. Families are lining up in the city parking lot near Delmas Park, with the parade stepping off late this morning and winding through the heart of downtown. Kids, strollers, and wagons are all part of the show, and local groups are using the morning to kick off the coast’s Carnival season close to home.
City event listings note that the parade window runs roughly from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., giving everyone time to enjoy the floats and then linger over lunch or shopping with downtown businesses that are opening their doors for the crowds.
Sunny, crisp weather sets the tone
Conditions are cooperating for outdoor plans. Forecasts for Pascagoula today call for clear skies, an afternoon high in the mid‑60s, and a morning low in the low‑40s, with a light north‑northeast breeze. It will feel cool in the shade or near the water early and after sunset, but overall it’s a comfortable day to be outside, whether you are catching beads or running weekend errands.
Tonight should stay dry and calm, so anyone traveling after evening events or getting an early start Sunday will be dealing more with jackets than with rain gear.
Students spotlight Black history and local talent
Earlier this week, Pascagoula High School students marked Black History Month with a program that has now become a standing tradition. This was the fifth year students took the lead on performances, readings, and tributes that highlight national figures and local community leaders, giving younger Panthers a chance to see themselves reflected on stage.
The high school has also been in the news for student achievements. One PHS student recently earned second place in the South Mississippi Poetry Out Loud regional contest, advancing to the state finals later this spring. District updates this month also highlight campus safety improvements and the newly approved 2026–2027 school calendar, giving families more tools to plan ahead.
