Phil Campbell beat Falkville 42-16 on Friday, Oct. 23, in Falkville, extending the Bobcats’ winning streak to six games. The Franklin Free Press reported Phil Campbell improved from 5-3 to 6-3 overall, while Falkville remained 4-5. In Region 7, Phil Campbell stood at 6-1 and Falkville at 3-4 after the game.
Phil Campbell led 28-0 at halftime and scored 42 unanswered points before Falkville scored in the fourth quarter. Quarterback Hayston Scott completed six passes for 135 yards, including touchdown throws of 42 yards to Braxton Downey and 33 yards to Austin Elliott. Scott had 1,191 passing yards for the season. Downey also rushed for touchdowns of eight and 14 yards, finishing with seven carries for 54 yards.
What did the win change? Phil Campbell added a victory and stretched its streak, but the regular season was not over: the team had one game remaining, the Franklin Free Press reported.
