Plano Senior High families prepare for a school year shaped by major renovations
Plano Senior High School will begin the 2026-27 school year with students, staff and services divided between the main campus and temporary Building H at 2832 Parkhaven Drive.
The arrangement is part of a phased renovation that moves programs from Building B to Building H while work affects dining, kitchen and library spaces in Building C. Families should expect changes involving arrival, lunch, class movement, parking, front-office access and dismissal.
What is moving and where
Building B is scheduled for renovation during the 2026-27 school year. Students, staff and programs assigned to that building will temporarily operate from Building H, the current Haggard Middle School campus at 2832 Parkhaven Drive.
The school’s broader renovation plan also calls for Building C’s dining, kitchen and library functions to shift temporarily to Building H during the 2026-2028 phase. Building H is being prepared to support instruction and services while work proceeds across the Plano Senior campus.
How the school day will work
Plano Senior High says students will begin the day either at Building H or in Buildings A, D and E. Most students are expected to remain in their starting area through third period.
Lunch will be available at Building H. During the lunch block, most students are expected to travel between the two campus areas. After lunch, students may walk from the student parking area or use shuttle transportation to reach fourth-period classes. Some specialized courses may require additional movement, with time built into those schedules.
Most students are expected to remain on the same side of campus from fourth through seventh period. Midday shuttles will connect Buildings A, D and E with Building H, and dismissal pickup will be available at both sites. The school says route-specific information will be shared in August, so families should not assume a final shuttle route until Plano Senior High publishes it.
Parking and front-office access
The July 14 parent communication is the controlling family-facing source for parking assignments and the two reception or front-office access points during the transition. Because those details can affect where a parent parks or enters, families should review that dated update and any newer school message before visiting campus.
The temporary layout also means the student’s instructional location may differ from the location used for family business. Parents should confirm the correct parking area and reception entrance before arriving for an appointment, pickup or other office need.
Key dates before classes begin
Plano ISD’s 2026-27 calendar lists staff preparation dates from Tuesday, August 4, through Monday, August 10. The calendar lists Tuesday, August 11, 2026, as the first day of classes for students and gives high school and senior high school hours as 9:05 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Plano Senior High’s renovation materials identify Cat Camp as the opportunity for students to walk schedules and become familiar with the temporary campus setup. The approved school brief lists Cat Camp for Thursday, August 6, but the accessible parent-letter page currently displays Saturday, August 8, 2026. Families should verify the current date and event details with the school before attending.
Construction will continue after opening day
The project extends beyond the Building B move. Plano Senior High’s renovation materials describe a 104,000-square-foot athletic addition that includes two new gym floors, a new competition-gym entrance and a rebuilt Student Activity Center.
The school says renovation milestones are approximate and may change because of weather or construction needs. Its published plan places the full return to the renovated campus in August 2028 and overall project completion in February 2029, but those dates are estimates rather than guarantees.
Before August 11, families should consult Plano Senior High’s renovation hub and the newest parent communications for confirmed Cat Camp details, route information, parking assignments, office access and other first-day instructions.
